permanent makeup

When it comes to Permanent Makeup, the possibilities are endless.  The most popular procedures are Eyebrows, Eyeliner (top & bottom), and Lipliner, but we also offer correctional procedures, beauty marks, and areola reconstruction.  Some of the reasons our clients choose to have Permanent Makeup are: the loss of definition in their features, the need for a simpler routine, to avoid smudging or running of traditional cosmetics during the day, and many more.

Permanent Makeup was designed to enhance your natural features.  We encourage subtle application, but have the ability to create a wide range of looks.  Over 75 different colors are available and are FDA approved and MRI safe.  Several techniques can be used to achieve your desired result.  From soft and feathered, to bold and precise, we can customize any look.

We allow approximately 1 hour for each procedure.  We do not encourage booking 2 services on the same day.
A topical anesthetic (numbing agent) is applied to the area and allowed to penetrate for up to 20 minutes so that you will be very comfortable during the procedure.  The digital equipment we use, delivers the color to the skin very quickly, precisely, and without a lot of trauma.  Some swelling may occur, but is always minimal.  The immediate result looks bold and exaggerated.  The healing process takes about 5-10 days.  A thin scab will be produced and is to be left alone to shed naturally.  We will provide you with post-procedure instructions and an ointment to be applied to the area during the healing process.  After it is healed your results will look softer and less exaggerated.
Permanent Makeup is similar to a tattooing procedure and is also referred to as Micropigmentation, which is the intradermal application of inks.  Permanent Makeup services are not an exact science and therefore the final results may change and cannot be predicted.  Factors such as medication, illness, skin quality, sun exposure, extreme exfoliation, smoking, some cosmetic procedures, and general lifestyle may affect the brilliance of the colors.
Faces by Design guarantees the quality of the procedure for one year, and includes a free touch up procedure
within that year.  Additional touch ups may be needed according to your discretion, and will be available for an additional charge.

skin care

Faces by Design has worked hard to create comprehensive programs that target the most common skin care complaints.  Unlike traditional spas or skincare clinics, you will not find a menu of different facial treatments to choose from.  Instead you will find that each skin care session we provide is totally customized. Because there is so much misunderstanding by the consumer, of what is good for their particular skin type, they often misprescribe  products and treatments for their skin, which can lead to other serious issues. Our highly trained Skin Therapists will asses your skin and find out what your goals and budget are.  From there, they will create a protocol that will be followed within your skin care sessions. No matter how small or large your concerns are, we recommend several consistent treatments and at home care to create results that are strong and long lasting.

Each customized facial session follows a certain routine. It begins with a thorough double cleansing of the skin with a prescribed cleanser and steam. Resurfacing techniques are chosen as well as secondary professional exfoliation.  If needed, extractions are performed. Stimulating European massage is begun, over your face, neck and décolleté.  Steam towels remove the massage medium and prescribed ingredients are applied to the face and a masque follows. After masque removal, oxygen therapy or other hydrating techniques are used and followed with moisturizer. This facial is approximately 90 minutes and the time can be utilized and customized however the Therapist sees fit to address the client concerns.

We have the largest bar of resurfacing treatments in the Mid Ohio Vallley. Because we believe that proper exfoliation opens the door for most results, we offer several ways to execute that exfoliation for every skin type. Resurfacing treatments will help to control acne or breakout prone skin, regulate oil production, reduce fine lines and scarring, reduce hyperpigmentation, stimulate collagen and elastin production, reduce pore size and benefit the skin in many other ways too. Here are a few of the resurfacing techniques that we offer and details about how they work.
*Any time a resurfacing treatment is performed, the outermost layer of the skin is removed. This layer is compromised of dead skin cells that are stuck to the surface with oils and sweat (acid mantle), and acts as a protective barrier for our skin. Therefore we recommend little to no at home exfoliation for the following week, and the use of sunscreen during the duration of  your treatments. We do not recommend the use of any prescribed skin exfoliants while participating in these services (Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Accutane, Adapalene, ect.). We also do not recommend using hair removal products or techniques 48-72 hours before, or after the treatment.

microdermabrasion
The most popular of resurfacing techniques.  In this process the Skin Therapist abrades the skin with a tool that utilizes suction and combines a force of ultrafine crystals against the skins surface. A “whirlwind” effect is created and exfoliation occurs.  Dead skin cells lift and loosen from the surface.  This method is considered to be a “physical” or “mechanical” type of exfoliation. The intensity and the flow of crystals can be altered to achieve mild to heavy exfoliation.  Depending on your skin, and your desired results, you may become sensitive after a microdermabrasion treatment and may see a flakiness that occurs a couple days after.

diamond microdermabrasion
Diamond is the hardest substance known to man. Similar to traditional microdermabrasion, because the exfoliation occurs physically, diamond microdermabrasion uses suction to pull the skin very close to the edge of a tool encrusted with finely ground diamond. Several grit strengths are available to achieve very mild to moderate exfoliation results. This method is used to achieve exfoliation in a gentler way than traditional microdermabrasion. Sensitivity may occur, but is generally mild.

ultrasonic ablation
Mild to strong exfoliation results can be achieved with this system. Ultrasonic ablation is considered to work physically and chemically, by utilizing high frequency waves delivered by a vibrating blade to “wiggle” off dead
skin cells from the surface. A gentle chemical or enzymatic medium is used to provide glide of the blade along
the skin and aid in the digestion of the skin cells. Ultrasonic ablation can also be used with a hydrating medium,
the high frequency waves are altered to penetrate to hydration down into to deeper layers of the skin. This is a versatile treatment that almost any skin can benefit from. You may become sensitive after an ultrasonic ablation exfoliation treatment.

diamond dermafile
Utilizing crushed diamond, embedded in a hand tool resembling a file, this system literally buffs away dead skin cells. Several grit strengths are available for very mild to moderate exfoliation. The Skin Therapist sweeps the Dermafile across the skin to create this physical exfoliation. The Dermafile is often used on very dry and flaky skin types. Sensitivity may occur.

micro-peels or lunchtime-peels
We offer several chemical and enzymatic exfoliation techniques. These techniques use an ingredient to digest dead skin cells, or to penetrate the skin and swell, to lift the dead skin cells. Some of the formulas we use include, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, and Papain & Bromelain, or combinations of these ingredients. These ingredients are either diluted or concentrated at gentle strengths. You may get a flakiness a couple days after receiving one of these treatments and sensitivity can occur and be mild to moderate.

Other traditional therapies are available such as scrubs, gentle rotating brushes, a full line of professional products, high frequency, galvanic current, disincrustation, oxygen therapy, and etc. to ensure that the most thorough treatments available are given.

The jessner peel
This chemical exfoliation treatment is a very safe and time tested procedure that involves applying a chemical solution to the skin in several layers (5-7) in order to achieve a therapeutic burn. The Jessner solution is compromised of mostly salicylic acid at a 60% concentration combined with lactic acid, resorcinol, and hydroquinone. Together this alpha and beta hydroxy acid solution, delivers dramatic results and is recommended
for skin that has endured years of acne, sun damage, and signs of premature aging. The skin will go through a shedding and healing process that takes up to a week after the initial treatment, and must be followed by a customized facial to rebalance the skin. This treatment doesn’t penetrate to the living layer of the skin (dermis),
so the risks are minimal. Herpetic outbreaks can be stimulated so we recommend that if you are prone to these outbreaks you have proper medication available. Immediately after the treatment you will have a “frosted” appearance to your skin. The following day the frosted look will subside and your skin will look red or tan, shiny
and very tight. The first 24-48 hours after the procedure we recommend to keep the affected area DRY. After the
first 48 hours you may spritz water on the skin and let it air dry. The water will help the skin to draw and become tighter and tighter. Usually on the third to fourth day the skin gets so tight that it finally craks and begins to shed. Continue to use water only on your skin, but make sure not to pull or pick at the old skin. No cleansing solutions, soaps, moisturizers, lotions, or make up is to be used. When shedding process begins you may apply a thin
layer of ointment (ointment will be provided) to the new skin to act as a protectant. The new exposed skin will be sensitive.  The shedding process will last for a couple of days. Not everyone sheds at the same rate. These estimations are general.

lipomassage by endermologie
Endermologie was the first treatment approved by the FDA to temporarily reduce cellulite. It is a massage machine with 2 rollers and a gentle suction that when rolled over the top layer of fat makes a fold. This folding action stretches the connective tissue and results in the reduction of cellulite and body measurements. The FDA approved these treatments to temporarily reduce cellulite, reduce body measurements, increase circulation, relief of muscular pain, and reduction of muscle spasms. It was developed in the 1980’s as a non-surgical method to treat the scars of burn victims, who began to notice improvements in their cellulite as well.  From that point forward the contouring benefits of Endermologie began to be recognized.

The program requires two treatments per week for at least 5 weeks to see results.  More sessions may be required for your desired results. Our licensed massage therapist, Tiffany Coler, will track you progress by taking measurements and photographic documentation. The integration of electric stimulation or body contouring wraps may be incorporated to help enhance your results.

Electric stimulation is a treatment that stimulates your muscles to contract, therefore resulting in muscle tone and definition.

Contouring body wraps are treatment designed to eliminate toxins and stored water from the body by the tissue compression method.

Consultations are recommended and complimentary.

body massage
Faces by Design offers therapeutic deep tissue massage and relaxation Swedish massage. Deep tissue massages are designed to work out muscle tension and knots causing pain. These sessions are executed with a medical approach.  Swedish massages are for the relaxation benefit. They will pamper and soothe.

body scrubs
Body scrubs are for anyone looking for a more refined texture to their skin. It is a polishing technique that buffs away dead skin and rough patches with the use of a sugar or salt exfoliant. Sugar scrubs are hydrating and are recommended for ultra dry to sensitive skin types. Salt scrubs a bit more abrasive and are recommended for rougher coarser skin types.  The full body scrubs are followed with a hot shower and a hydrating body massage.  This is an awesome treatment to receive before using sunless tanner or getting a spray tan.
